Running with Scissors

Happy Full Moon in Cancer! Our lunar teacher sits on her throne at maximum wattage. The Moon rules this sign that governs home, family, and feelings. Some will be extra emotional and tender. Notice sentiments of nostalgia, longing, self-pity, and regret. Understand that water signs are mute; sometimes, it is hard to put emotions into words. Treat yourself and others gently. Use the illumination to consider how insecurity, rejection fears, and safety desires motivate your actions.

This lunation is a perfect time to explore your tender psyche and what sets off emotional reactions within you. Venus in investigative Scorpio is in a smooth trine with sensitive Neptune. You may have uncomfortable revelations about your behavior in relationships. Our shadows help us grow. Communicative Mercury is retrograde and conjunct warlord Mars in expansive Sagittarius. Notice what you decide to stop doing. Mars rules sharp instruments, and Mercury rules the hands. Don’t run with scissors,...

Ode to Joy

Mercury, the planet that rules communication, transportation, commerce, and our thought processes, is the star of the show at this New Moon. As it travels through responsible Capricorn, your attention may turn to topics including duty, ambition, hard work, and achievement. The winged messenger is essentially stopped in the sky during the New Moon as it turns retrograde and optically appears to slow down, stop, and then reverse backward through the zodiac from December 12 to January 1. Most people know about the scheduling delays, communication mix-ups, and travel mishaps that arise during Mercury retrograde. Reversals, reoccurrences of previous situations, and the collapse of anything contemplated are also on brand.

I love that this transit brings mistakes to our attention. I mistakenly used the wrong hour for the Pope's chart and made an error in the last blog. I did this on the day Mercury squared Neptune, the planet of confusion. Neptune stationed direct in a square...

Reliable Sources

If you celebrate it, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Sagittarius season should be joyful. Jupiter, the planet of abundance and blessings, rules the sign. It was challenging for many as last week included two difficult transits. The Sun and Mars in Sagittarius made tense squares with Saturn in Pisces. The Sun focuses our attention. Mars invokes movement, conflicts, and accidents. Saturn imprisons, delays, and disappoints but brings achievement after hard work.

The biggest story is that there were several rounds of hostages released from Gaza in exchange for a ceasefire, aid to Gaza, and the release of Palestinian prisoners. Sagittarius is associated with freedom. How beautiful to see (Sun) people running (Mars) to their loved ones after a horrific ordeal (Saturn). There were several delays, but they extended the deal extra days. The collaboration enhanced by Venus in Libra is not likely to last. The planet of peace will meet the South Node, a cosmic drain on November 29;...

Bringing Sexy Back

We finally have cosmic news to celebrate! Venus, the planet of love, beauty, relationships, and peace, sashayed back home to Libra on Wednesday. This sign rules art, fashion, actors, diplomacy, and legal affairs. This is her fun and social sign where she can toss witty zingers, negotiate like a champ, and send everyone home feeling like they won something. Make the most of this transit to improve your flirt game, write persuasively, and close deals before December 4. Like clockwork, she got to work hours after her Jimmy Choo hit the cosmic red carpet. 0° of the cardinal signs are world points. Events get extra attention, and archetypes come to life that exemplify the sign and the planet. News stories for her pit stop a 0° Libra:

  • The Screen Actors Guild announced a tentative agreement to end the strike.
  • Ivanka Trump made a glamourous pitstop at her father's civil fraud trial.
  • Nikki Haley schooled Vivek...

The Rearview Mirror

Saturday's solar eclipse is chained to the Libra South Node and opposite the Aries North Node. This is the relationship axis.  Aries rules how we pursue our individual desires, and Libra how we partner with others. The nodes are karmic; collectively, we face the light and shadows of both sides of the see-saw. Join me for a free webinar on Sunday, October 22, to learn more about the Zodiac Signs as Mirrors.   Sign up for the Astrology Foundations 101 waitlist to dive even deeper into astrology. Class begins on Sunday, October 29.

Pioneering, courageous, competitive, and independent Aries energies are celebrated.  Its shadows are violence, impulsivity, and rudeness. Libra's archetype is diplomatic, peaceful, friendly, and cultured.  Passive-aggressive, fence-sitting, and people-pleasing behaviors are the low road traits.

Eclipse season brings sweeping change, and this one is exceptionally potent.  Bernadette Brady says the Saros 7S family...

Partner Swap

I am in Borrego Springs, CA, this week under a dark sky in the desert. Getting away from the stressors of city life is a blessing.  My nervous system is relaxed, my sleep is deeper and my dreams are vivid. I lectured on the Moon Phase Families for the Astro-Bash conference and completed my first Peer Group with the Organization for Professional Astrology (OPA). What a joy to connect with other astrologers to share how we do our work, learn from each other, and receive constructive feedback. I aim to finish my OPA certification by the time Saturn, the planet of hard work, legacy, and achievement, reaches my midheaven (MC). The MC is the pinnacle of our natal chart.  My MC is in Aries, and this Full Moon is lighting up my career house. High road Aries is a pioneer who inspires others to take calculated risks for self-actualization.

My peer group challenged me to stop delaying my Foundations of Astrology 101 class and launch a beta version this...

Alien Superstar

I am thrilled that Mercury retrograde ends on Friday.  My apologies for this week's Celestial Insights podcast.  Vesta was at 29 Gemini, not Leo.  I hope you understood the context. I recorded on the day Jupiter stationed retrograde while trining the trickster transiting my third house of communication. Jupiter is more focused on the big picture than the details.  Despite listening back, I did not catch my error. Yikes!

As we blaze back over the path that Venus in Leo has traversed for the third time, I am still unpacking her retrograde through Leo. Venus rules beauty, pleasure, money, women, and relationships.  Fiery Leo is a joyful, expressive, and creative sign. Retrogrades bring delays, reversals, and the collapse of anything contemplated. It was a loud transit and events will continue to unfold until Venus enters Virgo on October 8.

  • When Venus entered fiery Leo on June 5, it opposed Pluto at 0 Aquarius, both at a critical degree....

A Little Tenderness

Venus retrograde over-delivered for many with delays, reversals, and collapses of anything contemplated around love, money, celebrations, and values. I am still dealing with the tax board about the missing form. It is a minor but irritating frustration. Mercury entered the retrograde dance last week, and I traveled to a wedding (Venus) in Mexico. Instagram followers and podcast listeners know I was nervous about the trip as the winged messenger is the trickster. Due to a communication mistake, we took the wrong travel route and missed our flight due to the massive traffic at the border crossing. Astrology prepared me. I purchased a more expensive ticket, knowing with my natal chart there was a significant probability of problems. Mercury is reversing through my third house of short trips, and oppressive Saturn is retrograde in my ninth house of long-distance travel. Colette at Southwest Airlines helped the four of us rebook later flights and get home the same evening. Thank you,...
