It is hard to believe that 2022 is coming to a close; how time flies! I am starting a two-week vacation as a docent at my favorite wellness spa as I write this. In part, I will use the time to consider how I can most effectively use my energy to benefit myself and the community I serve.

This lunation is tricky. Passionate, fiery Mars is retrograde and tightly conjunct the Moon and opposite the Sagittarius Sun. I expect the protests against the zero COVID lockdowns in China and the right for women’s rights in Iran to intensify. Chainbreaker Uranus, also retrograde, has returned to the newsmaking world point of 15 Taurus and is conversing with authoritarian Saturn. Jupiter is at the last karmic, anaretic degree of 29º Pisces on the fixed star Scheat associated with life imprisonment. I am concerned for the brave football players from Iran who protested the injustices of their government at significant personal risk.  

For the USA, the explosive Moon-Mars conjunction is in the public 10th house, and Uranus is in the 9th house of long-distance transportation. The Senate voted to stop the looming strike of railway workers because of the crippling effect on the economy. The government took action to prevent the Uranian disruption of precious resources, including water, food, and energy supplies. Remember, retrogrades bring delays, reversals, and reoccurrences of previous situations.

Pluto returns happen every 248 years, and it is a time when empires go through massive changes, typically falter and sometimes begin to crumble. The country’s natal agent of chaos is in the second house of resources, values, and financial matters. The first of three hits coincided with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the second was the overturn of Roe vs. Wade. The third and final direct hit of the USA’s first Pluto return is on December 28.

On January 12, Mars stations direct precisely conjunct the USA’s natal Uranus at 8º Gemini. Hello, rail strike! I could be wrong, but as one of my mentors, Anne Ortelee says, “trust the astrology!”. I predict the story is not over. Unrest, serious sabotage, or the strike will likely proceed before or around that date.  

The holidays are stress-inducing, and this chaotic Full Moon will magnify distraction, anxiety, and frustration for some. Stay present and use your breath to calm nervous energy.
