Disturbing the Peace

DISTURBING THE PEACE

The Libra New Moon arrives on October 10, but before we get into the astrology, I want to remind my professional astrologers about an upcoming opportunity.

ASTRO MARKETING: ESSENTIAL TOOLS FOR SUCCESS

On Saturday, October 17, Dabney Lawless and I are presenting an interactive three-hour workshop for the Organization for Professional Astrology.

Your work may be excellent, but people must understand who you are, what you offer, and why you are the right astrologer for them. Your branding, messaging, positioning, website, and public presentation shape that relationship before a client ever books a consultation.

We will help you clarify your niche, strengthen your brand, and discover ways to attract the right clients beyond simply posting on social media. You can also volunteer for a hot seat and receive real-time feedback on your website, branding, messaging, or marketing.

If you are an astrologer who wants to grow your business, I hope you will join us.

THE LIBRA NEW MOON

Libra rules justice, relationships, politics, art, culture, beauty, diplomacy, fairness, and balance. It teaches us how to negotiate competing needs and create agreements that allow people to coexist.

But this New Moon has a bite.

Venus rules Libra, and Venus is retrograde in Scorpio, the sign of her detriment or exile. Retrograde motion is a planetary affliction, and Venus is also under the beams of the Sun. She is hidden, weakened, and unable to operate with her usual charm and social grace.

To make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs.

Venus in Scorpio is not interested in smiling politely while resentment grows underneath the surface. She pulls betrayal, abuse, jealousy, money, sex, power, vengeance, and relationship secrets out of the depths. Women who have had enough of violence, exploitation, and being told to remain pleasant may be ready to disturb the peace.

Venus in Scorpio answers to Mars, and at the New Moon she is approaching a square with Mars in Leo. This amplifies the passion, anger, pride, and potential for confrontation. People may become locked into their positions, convinced that compromise means surrender.

Sometimes peace is genuine. Sometimes peace is simply what we call silence when the people who have been harmed are expected not to make anyone uncomfortable.

PUNISHING THE ACCUSER

Jane Doe, the woman who has accused seven former Cornell fraternity members of drugging and raping her, is now being punished for speaking out. The men deny wrongdoing, and none has been criminally charged.

According to her attorney, she has received death threats, faced attempts to reveal her identity, and was targeted in a swatting incident. Police arrived at her parents’ home with guns drawn after receiving a false report that someone was being killed inside.

Then Megyn Kelly, one of the most prominent women in conservative media, publicly attacked Jane Doe’s appearance. She called her unattractive, criticized her body, and suggested that she may have welcomed the sexual attention because she enjoyed feeling desired.

This is Venus retrograde in Scorpio square Mars in Leo in action. A woman makes an accusation involving sex, violence, and power, and the response is to expose her, intimidate her, critique her appearance, and put her on trial.

When a woman comes forward, do we investigate what happened to her, or do we decide whether she was attractive enough, sober enough, modest enough, or likable enough to deserve protection?

THE MIDTERMS

This is the New Moon cycle carrying us toward the November 3 midterm elections. Venus, Mercury, and Saturn will all be retrograde by Election Day, suggesting reversals, delays, contested decisions, legal battles, communication failures, and the possible collapse of plans that once appeared settled.

The administration has declined to invite the international observers who have monitored every U.S. federal election since 2002. Documented concerns also include federal election interference, aggressive monitoring, attempts to change voting procedures, and possible plans involving voting machines and election materials.

We do not yet know what the October Surprise will be. But this is not an ordinary election cycle, and this is not a quiet Libra New Moon.

MOVING WITH COURAGE

This astrology is not a reason to live in fear. It is a reminder to move with courage, awareness, and intention.

Be mindful of your surroundings. Do not enter conflicts casually. Pay attention when people appear unusually volatile, prideful, or determined to win at any cost. If your intuition tells you that something is unsafe, listen.

On a personal level, Venus retrograde can bring unfinished relationship matters back to the surface. You and someone close to you may need a deep, honest conversation about resentment, intimacy, money, trust, power, or reciprocity.

The goal is not to destroy the relationship. The goal is to stop pretending that everything is fine when it is not.

Venus will eventually return to Libra and station direct on November 13. The difficult conversations we begin now could lead to greater honesty, fairness, and balance. Working through what has been buried can bring positive benefits, but first we must be willing to bring it into the light.

NEW MOON REFLECTIONS

  • Where am I preserving appearances instead of addressing the truth?
  • What resentment, boundary, or imbalance needs to be discussed openly?
  • How can I pursue justice without putting myself in unnecessary danger?

The next episode of the Celestial Insights podcast is called Moonstruck. The emotional energy and collective tension are building toward the Taurus Full Moon on October 25, when what has been developing beneath the surface may become impossible to ignore.

This will be a tense month. I am moving through it with courage, and I encourage you to do the same. Stay aware. Protect your peace. Choose your battles carefully. True balance cannot be built on silence.
